I love history, and occasionally I write articles about the themes and eras I am interested in. And I will post about my visits to historical locations too.

My first degree was awarded by the Open University, a BA (Open) with mostly History and Politics modules.

I consider myself an amateur historian, exploring the themes and eras that I am interested in because I am interested in them:

  • Cold War 1917 - 1991 - I am of the opinion the Cold War started in 1917, although there was a sort of interregnum 1939 - 1945.

  • Radical Redcoats - I am interested in when British soldiers turned to politics. My main interest is John Lilburne and the Putney Debates

  • Crusades - from an early age I have been interested in the first three crusades.

  • Russian Revolution - the British Intervention: a very little known and understood area of our history, thousands of British and allied troops intervened in the Russian Civil War on the side of the ‘White Russians’ to try and stop the Bolshevik revolution.
